    The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More
    or
    James and the Giant Peach

    I'd put Matilda in there but you know after I saw the movie I didn't like the story as much for some reason.

        Henry Sugar+6 is the most emotionally intense of all of them. I think both Henry Sugar and the included Swan story had me cheking up and crying afterwards, both powerful. I don't even remember why I was crying since it was probably 15 years ago I read them, just that they were super intense and stayed with me for a long time.

          Definatley The Complete Short Stories....amazing! Death of an old man being the best. I bought it in New Zealand, loaned it to about a million people and can't seem to find a copy in the US!
