I haven't gone yet, but plan to see it at IMAX soon. Who's seen it? What do you think?

  • I saw it at IMAX yesterday (for my birthday) and loved it!

I tried really hard not to compare it to the original, but I would occasionally. I want to see it a second time so that I will just compare it to itself.

I love Danny Elfman, just so you are all clear on that! :)
    • I thought it was great. Very different than the first one, but this one followed the book so closely that I loved it even more.

i thought the backstory on Wonka was very interesting and perfect for the future Wonka.

Johnny Depp was great, of course. A little wierd, but who cares.

The Oompa Loompa songs were awesome. I know the lyrics came directly from the book but what Danny Elfman did to them was great. (I agreew ith you Annetastic)

All in all, i was prepared to not like the movie and I really enjoyed it. Laughed a lot. Just wish there were more candy scenes. (I love candy), but I guess there were enough. I just wanted more.

I recommend this one to anyone who loves Charlie.

Saw it at a drive-in last night with the kids.
I have to say, in my opinion, I like the origianl better.
I love Depp but he this vision, or feeling kept coming across to me.....He seemed like- Mr. Rodgers doing trip. I mean, didn't he sound like Mr. Rodgers??

I have finally seen it, at IMAX! I was skeptical... but I have to say that I was thoroughly blown away by the art direction, sfx, casting! And, it did follow the book much more closely. I liked Depp's interpretation, you got more of a sense of Wonka's backstory (and of course the flashbacks did help) in his performance, although the Michael Jackson similarities were entirely too difficult to ignore (not on purpose?? Maybe...). Brilliantly done.

I have to say that although I will always have a soft spot for the Gene Wilder version, this one takes the cake.
